Colorfactory were one of the most distinctive bands on the Czech alternative scene of the 1990s. Their work has left an indelible mark on the history of Czech film and music. After many years, the band are returning to the live stage – they will be performing at the Roxy club on 18 November.
Colorfactory are returning to the stage with the line-up of David Volenec, Colin Stuart, Jan P. Muchow, Dušan Lipert, Ivo Heger, Iva Stuartová and Štěpán Tůma. The first chance to see the band live this year came in July as part of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. To mark the 30th anniversary of the film Šeptej, a newly restored version of the film was screened at the festival, and the band performed in full before the screening.
The band is inextricably linked to the film Šeptej. Seven tracks from Colorfactory’s debut album were used on the soundtrack of this now cult film by director David Ondříček. At the time, Colorfactory’s music became one of the symbols of an entire generation. In 1996, their eponymous debut album won a Czech Grammy (the predecessor to the Anděl Awards) for Newcomer of the Year.
This unique comeback will take place nowhere else but at the Roxy club, which was also one of the locations where the film Šeptej was shot.
